Academy for Jewish Religion, California - Serving as Bridge between the pillars of Judiasm

Support AJR CA's mission to serve the Jewish Community

From Strength To Strength: Supporting The Academy

The Academy for Jewish Religion, California is embarked on a unique, exciting and important mission – training spiritual leaders who will serve all Jews and Jewish movements, who will be steeped in the teachings and traditions of the sacred texts and, at the same time, will make Torah real and relevant to our lives as Jews today. This mission would be impossible to accomplish without the financial support of individuals who recognize its importance.

Our supporters represent the Jewish community in its entirety. Among them are Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist and Renewal Jews. They are Ashkenazi and Sephardic, men and women, young and old. What unites them is their belief in the need to revitalize Judaism and make it a profound experience. They recognize the need for spiritual leaders whose training instills a respect for and understanding of all branches of Judaism; rabbis and cantors whose love of Judaism is as profound as their commitment to make it spiritually uplifting for all.

Our motto, “Serving as a bridge between the pillars of Judaism,” has become a reality because of the support of a tremendous group of people. We invite you to join us and make a real and much needed impact on the future of the American Jewish community. Your support is deeply appreciated!

The Doreen and Louis Gerber Annual Memorial Scholarship
Recognizing the financial burden that some students incur in pursuing their dream of becoming rabbis, cantors and chaplains, the Doreen and Louis Gerber Annual Memorial Scholarship has been established to help defray those costs. The Scholarship, funded by Academy Board Member Selwyn Gerber and his wife, Glynis, provides $2,000 annually to needy students.

The Academy deeply appreciates this support and invites others who wish to recognize and honor a loved one to consider establishing a scholarship. Those interested in doing so should contact the Academy at 310-824-1586.
